The Midwest Reggae Fest has moved to Wendy Park on Whiskey Island, adjacent to Edgewater Park in Cleveland. You can pretty much call the new location downtown, as the skyline serves as a backdrop. If you're a Clevelander and need directions to Wendy Park you just don't get around much do you? The annual Camp Crusty fundraiser takes place here as does Great Lakes Brewery's Burning River Fest.
Seriously, you need to see this oasis on the lake. And what better occasion than this Saturday for the 21st Annual Midwest Reggae Fest. The nationally known festival has been held in two previous locations. For years it was a one day event held out in Huntsburg, Ohio which was a long, long drive out on Mayfield Rd. More recently it's been held at Nelson Ledges, expanding to a two then three day event with overnight camping.
This year the promoter, Packy Malley, was enticed to bring the party to Wendy Park. Originally scheduled for three days at the site, with no overnight camping, it has been trimmed down to a two day event. Saturday at Wendy Park and Sunday at the Beachland Ballroom.
So instead of having to contemplate which day to go to this good vibe, irie event it's been decided for you. A full day of reggae on the Lake Erie shore with downtown Cleveland as a backdrop should be a highlight of the summer.
