You could put animated gifs in the same category as chain emails, things on the internet that were once interesting but now are so played out. I still get those forwarded emails with the bad jokes, odd photos and conservative-leaning propaganda on a daily basis. Uncles, what are ya' gonna do?
Animated gifs were the rage at one point. Take a funny moment in a video, loop it and watch it go viral. I still love these things. While I don't go to sites looking for them, when they pop up I'm often very entertained.
Facebook doesn't allow them and I get that. Try loading a page full of animated gifs. Even if your computer has muscle it'll take some time to load.
There's a thread on a music message board dedicated to animated gifs. It was started about five years ago and people are still posting content. I thought I'd share it with you.
