This video doesn't really need any explanation. It was emailed to me by a cynical friend who...well...wasn't so cynical after viewing it. I haven't researched as to exactly when this appeared on Oprah or what the condition of the speaker, Randy Pausch, is as of today. It's really not important. This is just a summation of his "last lecture" he did on Oprah. There seems to be quite a number of other clips on You Tube What is important is that he has hit the nail on the head as to how one should live life. Share this video with everyone, especially your children. And watch it on a regular basis. It's 10 minutes in length but so worth your time. Here's to your great life!
Newly released, The Buzzard: Inside The Glory Days Of WMMS And Cleveland Rock Radio, is just as the title says, a tale of the greatest radio station to ever exist as told by it's longtime program director John Gorman. I haven't read it yet but plan on devouring it once I get a copy at the private release party next Thursday evening. A great warm up to the Jens Lekman show discussed yesterday. I also plan on passing it along as a Christmas gift and birthday gift to my friends who are, like me, approaching the big five oh. Here's some inside info. The book is to be the basis for a film documentary of the station. I'm involved in it but can't discuss much more at this point. Stay tuned!
I'd first heard of this 25 year old pop troubadour a little over a year ago. Coming across a couple of his earlier songs, I found them quite catchy but never really investigated further. Well, the buzz for him is rising here in the states and with good reason. Hailing from Sweden, he is at once campy and cool, cheesy and classy. Slate magazine just did a nice write up on him here. His new album, Night Falls On Kortedala, is an instant classic. And, he's playing at The Beachland Ballroom here in Cleveland on Thursday November 1. I'll certainly be there singing along.
Here's the video for a song from his last album, You Are The Light
And here's a live version of a song from the new album, The Opposite Of Halleluja. Note that his band is what appears to be an all female outfit!
So this guy assembles this amazing collage of 100 movies, 100 quotes and 100 numbers. It's a countdown. You'll get it as soon as you start watching. And you'll be amazed. How long did it take for him to do this? How did he search for a movie with each number? How did he get each film and edit the quote from it? At the end he asks that the MPA not sue him. The way I see it, he's made a great resume. Albeit one that took quite a long time to put together. It's 10 minutes but well worth the time. Enjoy!
