I just can't justify spending serious cash on a pair of headphones. Ok, there's exceptions but as a general rule I just don't get it.
Let's talk about the exceptions first. Maybe you're a frequent flier. Investing in a pair of Bose noise cancellation headphones makes sense. Or if the pair of headphones you plan on purchasing are strictly for home use. Maybe you live in a small apartment with a roommate or live a transient lifestyle which has precludes you from buying box speakers. Again, I can see the reasoning there.
Otherwise, I will never spend, say, over $30 for a pair of headphones. The only reason I use them is to listen to my iPod or iPhone. That translates to alot of abuse for the headphones. The cord gets caught and tugged, wrapped and tangled through the course of a day.
I don't know about you but a pair of these headphones last me about 3 or 4 months before they break. Either I loose a rubber tip of the earbuds or the wiring frays and one of the channels begins to crackle or totally looses sound. So why on earth would I spend $100 plus on a pair of great sounding earbuds when that is the outcome.
Maybe I'm missing something. If so, let me know.
