It started back in 2009 when last year's holiday season saw impressive price drops on flat panel televisions. It was time for consumers to pull the trigger and buy that new TV. That trend has showed no signs of slacking as prices continued to drop in 2010.
Even better news is that all of the ancillary products that complete a home theater after you've purchased the TV are getting a sales boost. Over all, this could be a good sign for the economy and certainly great news for dealers and manufacturers heading to the annual Consumer Electronics Show which gets under way in Las vegas tomorrow.
The USA Today reports in a story, Home theater gear is a booming business, that even somewhat removed products such as theater style furniture are selling better thanks to the new TV buying trend. As I've said, these low prices on televisions are leaving little margin for anyone in the business to make money, including the manufacturers of the sets themselves. Still, it's nice to see that consumers understand that the experience goes beyond just the video screen.
